Pre-Training
The success of a racing campaign starts at day one. Building fitness gradually, ensuring horses work in a relaxed manner and breathe well, each horse's program is catered to their individual needs.
Expert farriery, training variation (track, arena, treadmill), and meticulous care and attention make up the foundations of an equine athlete.
Regular communication with trainers and owners ensures horses enter their respective stables ready to progress towards race day success.

Breaking
Starting horses under saddle influences their entire experience in life. Maxim’s approach to breaking in is centred around building confidence and teaching horses to look to people for confidence. The bond between horse and rider can be the difference between winning and losing on the track.
Horses educated at VL Bloodstock are confident and trust people, no matter who places their feet in the
stirrups.
Incorporating a blend of natural horsemanship and traditional methods, Maxims breakers receive praise from trainers and riders around the country.
$4500 plus GST (a block fee)
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation can be the difference between returning to the races or early retirement.
At VL Bloodstock Ltd, our attention to detail, from the hooves to the mind, gives horses every possible chance to return to racing.
With an experienced in-house farrier, spacious open-air stables and various paddock sizes, we work closely
with your chosen veterinary practice and provide regular communication with owners every step of the way.
From hand walking and incline treadmill trotting, to light ridden work on our equine sand arena and long straight deep sand tracks, horses will return to exercise safely and in sound state of mind.
